Prefilters

A prefilter is a filter that is placed in front of another filter to help remove larger, heavier particles from passing through.  The primary purpose of a prefilter is to extend the life of the final filters.  Prefilters are highly recommended in systems that require high-efficiency filtration or where a high concentration of lint, debris, and larger particles are present.
