Congratulations to 2022 NAFA Clean Air Award Recipient, RCMP Regina Depot Division – Fort Dufferin.
Fort Dufferin is one of 3 RCMP cadet dormitory buildings at the RCMP Depot in Regina. The three-story building can host up to 224 people while serving as the division’s main reception area and security and access control centre.
The RCMP Regina Depot Division felt it was important to take additional measures to reduce the airborne transmission of COVID-19 and to ensure they provided healthy, indoor air quality (IAQ) for all of the building occupants. Working with David Crompton, RSE, Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor at the RCMP Regina Depot Division, BGE Clean Air Advisor Mike Gerald conducted a detailed Aircheck assessment of the dormitory buildings to see if any improvements were needed. Based on the goals of the RCMP, he recommended increasing filter effici
ency for units with 2-stage filtration and upgrading to BGE MERV 9 pre-filters and MERV 15 final filters. These improvements helped to earn their NAFA award and demonstrated their efforts in maintaining healthy buildings.
“It was important for us to submit for a NAFA award because we wanted people on-site to be aware of how much we care about IAQ and the award visibly shows that measures are taken to insure we are providing high levels of indoor air quality.” Compton also said, “We are doing all that we can to combat Covid and provide improved IAQ at the same time.”
