AAF VariCel® VXL RC V-Cell Filter

The VariCel® VXL RC is a high-performance, 8-panel V-bank filter engineered for demanding commercial and industrial HVAC systems. Designed to deliver reliable efficiency in turbulent airflow, variable volume, repeated fan cycling, or high humidity, this filter maintains optimal air quality in even the most challenging conditions.

Its multiple mini-pleat media packs provide up to 50% more surface area than traditional rigid cartridge filters, enhancing airflow capacity, reducing resistance, and significantly extending service life. The result is better system performance, fewer replacements, and reduced energy consumption.

Efficiency

AAF’s VariCel VXL RC is available in MERV 14 and MERV 15 efficiencies.

Dust Holding Capacity

The VariCel® VXL RC’s V-bank mini-pleat design with dual-density media provides up to 50% more media surface area than standard rigid filters, significantly increasing dust-holding capacity and extending service life.

Depth

The VariCel VXL RC is available in a 12” depth.

Initial Resistance

The initial resistance of the VariCel VXL at 500 fpm:
0.28 in.w.g. for MERV 14
0.32 in.w.g. for MERV 15

Final Resistance

The recommended final resistance of the VariCel VXL RC is 2.0 in.w.g.

Key Features & Benefits

  • Dual-Density Microglass Media – Coarse fibers on the air-entering side and finer fibers on the air-leaving side promote full-depth particle capture, enhancing dust-holding capacity (DHC) and reducing operating costs.
  • V-Bank Design with Mini-Pleat Packs – Maximizes effective media area, boosting airflow and extending filter lifespan.
  • Rugged Construction – Molded high-impact polystyrene (HIPS) frame resists damage during transport and installation.
  • Thermoplastic Separators – Maintain uniform pleat spacing for consistent performance and low resistance.
  • Fully Incinerable – Environmentally friendly end-of-life disposal.
  • LEED® Compliant – Meets LEED® efficiency requirements.
  • Versatile Configurations – Available in single or double header models; supports reverse flow installation.
