Shell Scotford Administration Building 1A

BGE would like to congratulate Jason Dmetruk, Dustin Andrychuk, and their team of technicians from Bird Construction on earning a 2022 NAFA Clean Air Award.

The Shell Scotford Administration Building 1A is a 140,000 sq ft building that is connected via pedways to the new Administration Building IB (also a NAFA Award recipient) at Shell Scotford Refinery located outside of Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta.  Being a heavy industrial complex with chemicals, gases, and other compounds in and around the refinery, maintaining good quality indoor air is a top priority for keeping their occupants and equipment safe.

In partnership with BGE Clean Air Advisor Brian Worsdall, they made enhancements to their systems to ensure they were following industry best practices and due diligence in order to provide safe working environments. To help earn their NAFA Clean Air Award, the team replaced gaskets on HVAC systems to eliminate air by-pass, recalibrated pressure gauges, and upgraded systems to MERV 13 return air filters and MERV 15 supply air filters.

According to Dmetruk, “Bird Construction sees the value in making constant improvements to IAQ because we believe it’s necessary and aligned with how we want to manage this building to protect the people in it.”

Congratulations Bird Construction and Shell Scotford on your 2022 NAFA Clean Air Award.
